Surgical management of colonic perforation due to ulcerative colitis: report of a case

چکیده

Surgical treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC) is indicated electively in failure medical therapy and development malignancy dysplasia long standing cases acutely fulminant colitis, perforation, bleeding, obstruction or toxic megacolon. The surgical procedure the past used to be total proctocolectomy with permanent ileostomy its attendant psychological, social, physical, sexual problems. With advent ileal pouch–anal anastomosis (IPAA) patients UC can have a good quality life without fear having ileostomy. advancement minimally access surgery has added new wing armamentarium coping postoperative recovery, body image, dysfunction etc. Laparoscopic appeals undergoing IPAA because they are generally young hope gain potential benefit reduced disability, more rapid better image as result cosmetic incisions. Depending upon clinical presentation patient may require two three stage procedure.
